Diane Keaton, born Diane Hall in Los Angeles, was an American actress and filmmaker who took her stage name from her mother's maiden name. She first drew wide attention in quirky comic parts, often in movies directed by Woody Allen, and she won the Academy Award for Best Actress for Annie Hall (1977). She also appeared in all three Godfather films. Over a career spanning nearly five decades, she earned respect as a dramatic actress as well, with further Oscar nominations for Reds, Marvin's Room, and Something's Gotta Give. Audiences also enjoyed her in Father of the Bride and The First Wives Club. She directed films such as Unstrung Heroes and wrote the bestselling memoir Then Again.

Walter Mondale
Born January 5, 1928
American Democratic politician who served as the 42nd vice president in the Carter administration and was his party's 1984 presidential nominee.
Walter Mondale was born in the small town of Ceylon, Minnesota. After serving in the U.S. Army and finishing law school at the University of Minnesota in 1956, he became Minnesota's attorney general in 1960. He represented the state in the U.S. Senate from 1964 to 1976 and then served as the 42nd vice president from 1977 to 1981 in the Carter administration, where he took part in the Camp David talks between Egyptian and Israeli leaders. In 1984 he won the Democratic presidential nomination and chose Geraldine Ferraro as his running mate, the first woman vice presidential candidate of a major party; the ticket lost to Ronald Reagan. He later served as U.S. ambassador to Japan from 1993 to 1996.

Hayao Miyazaki

Japanese animation director who co-founded Studio Ghibli and made films such as My Neighbor Totoro and Spirited Away.
Hayao Miyazaki is a Japanese animation director and artist from Tokyo. After graduating from Gakushuin University, he joined Toei Animation in 1963, where he worked with director Isao Takahata, and later moved through several other studios. His 1984 film Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind was adapted from his own manga. In 1985 he became one of the founders of Studio Ghibli. His films include My Neighbor Totoro, Kiki's Delivery Service, Princess Mononoke, Howl's Moving Castle, and Ponyo. Spirited Away (2001) won the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature, and he received an honorary Oscar in 2014. His later work includes The Wind Rises and The Boy and the Heron.
