Henry Ford
Born July 30, 1863
American industrialist who founded Ford Motor Company and made cars affordable with the Model T and the moving assembly line.
Henry Ford was an American industrialist who grew up on a farm near Dearborn, Michigan. As a young man he worked as an engineer for the Edison Illuminating Company, and in 1896 he built his first gasoline-powered vehicle, the Quadricycle. He founded the Ford Motor Company in 1903 and introduced the Model T in 1908. In 1913 his factories began using a moving assembly line, which sharply cut the time needed to build a car and helped bring prices down so ordinary families could afford one. In 1914 he started paying many workers five dollars for an eight-hour day, far above the usual wage. His methods changed how factories worked and helped make the automobile a part of everyday American life.

Hollywood made him a star with Conan the Barbarian, The Terminator, and later hits such as Twins, Kindergarten Cop, and True Lies. In 2003 he won a special recall election and became the Republican governor of California, serving until 2011. Born July 30, 1818
English novelist and poet who wrote Wuthering Heights, the passionate classic set on the Yorkshire moors.
Emily Brontë was an English novelist and poet born in Thornton, Yorkshire. She was the daughter of the Reverend Patrick Brontë, and her sisters Charlotte and Anne also became famous writers. The family moved to the village of Haworth in 1821, and Emily spent most of her life there. As children, she and Anne invented an imaginary world called Gondal, which inspired many of her poems. In 1846 the three sisters published a book of poems under male pen names, with Emily using the name Ellis Bell. Her only novel, Wuthering Heights, appeared in 1847. Early critics were often harsh, but the story of love and revenge on the moors won far greater admiration from later generations of readers.
