During World War II he led plutonium chemistry research in Chicago. He shared the 1951 Nobel Prize in Chemistry with Edwin McMillan. Seaborg later served as chancellor of UC Berkeley and chaired the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission from 1961 to 1971. In 1997 element 106 was named seaborgium in his honor.

Roger Sherman
Born April 19, 1721
Connecticut Founding Father who proposed the Connecticut Compromise and signed all four of America's key founding documents.
Roger Sherman was an American Founding Father born in Newton, Massachusetts. Largely self-taught, he worked as a shoemaker and surveyor, published almanacs, and became a lawyer in 1754 after studying law on his own. Settling in Connecticut, he served in its legislature and later as a delegate to the Continental Congress, where he sat on the Committee of Five that drafted the Declaration of Independence. At the 1787 Constitutional Convention he proposed the Connecticut Compromise, which created a Congress with a House based on population and a Senate with equal votes for each state. He is the only person to sign the Continental Association, the Declaration, the Articles of Confederation, and the Constitution. He also served in the U.S. House and Senate.
