English writer best known for the comic science fiction series The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.
Douglas Adams was an English author and humorist from Cambridge, England. He studied English at St John's College, Cambridge, where he wrote comedy sketches for student shows, including the Footlights. His big break came with The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, a comic science fiction story first broadcast on BBC Radio 4 in 1978. It became a best-selling novel in 1979 and grew into a five-book series that sold over 14 million copies worldwide. Adams also worked as a writer and script editor for Doctor Who, created the offbeat detective Dirk Gently, and made Last Chance to See, a book and radio series about endangered animals. He was also a popular speaker on technology and computers.

Australian-born American media executive who built News Corporation and launched the Fox network and Fox News.
Rupert Murdoch is an Australian-born media businessman from Melbourne who became a U.S. citizen in 1985. After studying at Oxford, he took over his family's newspapers in Adelaide and expanded across Australia, launching the national daily The Australian in 1965. He then moved into Britain, buying News of the World and The Sun, and later The Times of London. In the United States he purchased the New York Post, acquired 20th Century Fox, and started the Fox television network in 1986 and Fox News in 1996. His company, News Corporation, also came to own HarperCollins and The Wall Street Journal, bought in 2007. Murdoch stepped down as chairman in 2023, handing the role to his son Lachlan.

Antonin Scalia was an American judge from Trenton, New Jersey, who served on the U.S. Supreme Court from 1986 to 2016. He graduated first in his class at Georgetown University and studied at Harvard Law School, where he was a law review editor. He practiced law in Cleveland, taught at the University of Virginia and the University of Chicago, and served as an assistant U.S. attorney general. President Ronald Reagan named him to a federal appeals court in 1982 and to the Supreme Court in 1986. Scalia championed originalism, the view that the Constitution should be read according to its meaning when it was adopted. He was known for lively questioning, sharp and witty dissents, and a close friendship with Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.
