Cecil B. DeMille

American film director and producer famous for epic movies like The Ten Commandments and The Greatest Show on Earth.
Cecil B. DeMille was an American filmmaker from Ashfield, Massachusetts, whose parents both worked in the theater. After studying at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts and trying acting and playwriting, he turned to film. With Jesse Lasky and Samuel Goldwyn he formed a production company that later grew into Paramount, and his first film, The Squaw Man in 1914, was among the earliest feature films made in Hollywood. He became known for grand spectacles with big casts and lavish sets, including The King of Kings, Cleopatra, Samson and Delilah, and two versions of The Ten Commandments. The Greatest Show on Earth won the Oscar for Best Picture. He also hosted Lux Radio Theatre.

Erwin Schrödinger
Born August 12, 1887
Austrian physicist who created the Schrödinger wave equation and shared the 1933 Nobel Prize in Physics.
Erwin Schrödinger was an Austrian physicist born in Vienna, where he studied at the University of Vienna. He taught at several universities and spent six fruitful years at the University of Zurich. There, in 1926, he introduced his wave equation, which describes the behavior of particles such as electrons as waves and became a cornerstone of quantum mechanics. He then followed Max Planck at the University of Berlin, but left Germany in 1933 and later worked at Oxford, Graz, and the Dublin Institute for Advanced Studies. He shared the 1933 Nobel Prize in Physics with Paul Dirac. His 1944 book What Is Life? linked physics with the study of living things.

American tennis star who won 14 Grand Slam singles titles, including seven at Wimbledon.
Pete Sampras is a former American tennis player born in Washington, D.C. Known for his complete, all-around game, he dominated men's tennis in the 1990s. He won 14 Grand Slam singles titles, a men's record at the time, including seven Wimbledon championships and five U.S. Open titles. His first U.S. Open win came in 1990, and his last came in 2002, after which he stepped away from the tour. He finished as the world's top-ranked player six years in a row, from 1993 through 1998, and was part of the U.S. team that won the Davis Cup in 1995. He was inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame in 2007.
