American basketball Hall of Fame point guard who led the Los Angeles Lakers to five NBA titles and became a business leader.
Earvin "Magic" Johnson Jr., born in Lansing, Michigan, became a basketball star and later a successful businessman. He picked up his nickname in high school after a local sportswriter watched him put up 36 points, 16 rebounds and 16 assists in one game. At Michigan State University he famously faced Larry Bird in the NCAA Finals. As point guard for the Los Angeles Lakers, he helped win five NBA championships, in 1980, 1982, 1985, 1987 and 1988, and earned several MVP awards. He finished his career with 17,707 points and 10,141 assists. He entered the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2002. Off the court, he built Magic Johnson Enterprises, with holdings in movie theaters and sports teams, and served as Lakers president of basketball operations from 2017 to 2019.

Steve Martin, born in Waco, Texas, is a comedian, actor, author and musician. As a young man he worked as a magician and musician at Disneyland, and in 1967 he joined the writing staff of The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour, winning an Emmy in 1969. After hosting Saturday Night Live in 1976, he became the country's most popular stand-up comic, and his albums Let's Get Small and A Wild and Crazy Guy won Grammys. He went on to star in films such as The Jerk, Roxanne, Planes, Trains and Automobiles, and Father of the Bride. He has also written books and plays, won a Grammy for his banjo album The Crow, and co-created the Hulu series Only Murders in the Building. He received an honorary Oscar in 2013.

Danielle Steel, born in New York City, is a hugely popular writer known mainly for her best-selling romance novels. Her first novel, Going Home, came out in 1973. Since then she has written more than 180 books, which have been translated into dozens of languages and have sold about 650 million copies. Her stories usually center on strong, glamorous women who face serious challenges on their way to love and happiness. Popular titles include The Promise, Kaleidoscope, Heartbeat and The Gift, and more than 20 of her novels have been turned into TV movies. She has held a spot on the New York Times bestseller list for hundreds of weeks in a row and was inducted into the California Hall of Fame in 2009.
