American comedic actress famous for playing Elaine Benes on Seinfeld and Selina Meyer on Veep.
Julia Louis-Dreyfus is an American actress known for sharp, funny performances, often as high-strung characters. A native of New York City, she studied drama at Northwestern University and performed with a Chicago comedy troupe before joining Saturday Night Live from 1982 to 1984. Stardom came with Seinfeld, where she played Elaine Benes for the show's full run in the 1990s. Born January 13, 1808
American antislavery lawyer and statesman who served as Lincoln's Treasury secretary and as Chief Justice of the United States.
Salmon P. Chase was an American lawyer and political leader from Cornish, New Hampshire, who built his career in Ohio. As an attorney he defended abolitionists and people who had escaped slavery, and he helped organize the Free Soil movement, writing its slogan "Free Soil, Free Labor and Free Men." He represented Ohio in the U.S. Senate and served as the state's governor from 1855 to 1859. President Abraham Lincoln named him Secretary of the Treasury in 1861. During the Civil War, Chase financed the Union effort, backing paper money known as greenbacks and a national banking system. In 1864 Lincoln appointed him Chief Justice, and he presided over President Andrew Johnson's impeachment trial.

Horatio Alger, Jr.
Born January 13, 1832
American author whose popular rags-to-riches novels, starting with Ragged Dick, shaped the idea of the self-made American success story.
Horatio Alger Jr. was an American writer whose name became shorthand for the rags-to-riches story. Born in Chelsea, Massachusetts, he graduated from Harvard in 1852 and later finished Harvard Divinity School, working as a teacher and minister before moving to New York City to write full time. His breakthrough came with Ragged Dick, the tale of a young bootblack on the city streets, which led to sequels and series such as Luck and Pluck and Tattered Tom. Over about three decades he produced more than 100 books. His heroes were poor but honest boys who got ahead through hard work, perseverance, and a bit of luck, a message still linked to the American Dream.
