F. Scott Fitzgerald
Born September 24, 1896
American novelist and short story writer whose novel The Great Gatsby came to define the Jazz Age of the 1920s.
F. Scott Fitzgerald was an American writer from Saint Paul, Minnesota, who studied at Princeton University. His first novel, This Side of Paradise, came out in 1920 and made him famous almost overnight for capturing the mood of the generation that came of age after World War I. That same year he married Zelda Sayre of Montgomery, Alabama. In 1925 he published The Great Gatsby, the story of Jay Gatsby as seen through the eyes of narrator Nick Carraway, now considered his masterpiece. He also wrote Tender Is the Night (1934) and around 160 short stories for popular magazines such as the Saturday Evening Post. Later he worked as a screenwriter in Hollywood, and he became a lasting symbol of the 1920s.

Jim Henson
Born September 24, 1936
American puppeteer and producer who created the Muppets, including Kermit the Frog, and brought them to Sesame Street.
Jim Henson was an American puppeteer, director, and producer from Greenville, Mississippi. While still a freshman at the University of Maryland in 1955, he landed a regular spot on a local NBC station with a puppet program called Sam and Friends, where Kermit the Frog first appeared. He came up with the word "Muppets" by blending "marionettes" and "puppets." Working with the Children's Television Workshop, his team created famous Sesame Street characters such as Big Bird, Bert and Ernie, and Oscar the Grouch. In 1976 he launched The Muppet Show, hosted by Kermit and starring Miss Piggy and Fozzie Bear. He also made The Muppet Movie, Fraggle Rock, and the fantasy film Labyrinth, turning puppetry into mainstream entertainment.

John Marshall
Born September 24, 1755
Chief Justice of the United States for 34 years who established the Supreme Court's power of judicial review in Marbury v. Madison.
John Marshall was an American statesman and judge from Fauquier County, Virginia. During the American Revolution he joined the Virginia Minute Men and rose to the rank of captain in the Continental Army. After the war he studied law at the College of William & Mary and practiced in Virginia, serving in the state legislature and later in the U.S. House of Representatives. President John Adams named him Secretary of State in 1800, and in 1801 he became Chief Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court, a post he held for 34 years. His 1803 ruling in Marbury v. Madison established judicial review, the court's power to strike down laws that conflict with the Constitution. He also wrote key decisions in McCulloch v. Maryland and Gibbons v. Ogden.
