John Tyler
Born March 29, 1790
Tenth president of the United States, the first vice president to move up to the presidency after a president's death.
John Tyler was the 10th president of the United States, serving from 1841 to 1845. Born in Charles City County, Virginia, he studied at the College of William and Mary and worked as a lawyer. He served in the U.S. House of Representatives, as governor of Virginia, and as a U.S. senator. Elected vice president in 1840, he became the first vice president to take over the presidency when William Henry Harrison died in office, which earned him the nickname "His Accidency." Tyler often acted independently of party leaders and was expelled from the Whig Party. His administration is linked with the Webster-Ashburton Treaty and the annexation of Texas.

Sam Walton
Born March 29, 1918
American businessman who founded Walmart and Sam's Club, building the nation's largest retail chain.
Sam Walton was an American retailer born in Kingfisher, Oklahoma, and raised in Missouri. After graduating from the University of Missouri in 1940, he trained at J.C. Penney and served as an Army captain in World War II. In 1945 he bought a Ben Franklin variety store in Newport, Arkansas. In 1962 he opened the first Walmart in Rogers, Arkansas, offering a wide range of goods at low prices in simple stores. The company grew quickly, and in 1983 he launched Sam's Club warehouse stores. By the early 1990s Walmart had passed Sears as the largest retailer in the United States. In 1992 he received the Presidential Medal of Freedom from President George H.W. Bush.

Cy Young
Born March 29, 1867
Hall of Fame baseball pitcher who won 511 games, the most in major league history.
Cy Young, born Denton True Young in Gilmore, Ohio, was one of baseball's great pitchers. He grew up on a farm and earned the nickname "Cyclone," later shortened to "Cy," for his powerful pitching. Over a long career he pitched for the Cleveland Spiders, St. Louis, the Boston Americans (later the Red Sox), Cleveland, and the Boston Braves. He won 511 games, more than any other pitcher, and also holds records for complete games and innings pitched. In 1904 he threw the first perfect game of baseball's modern era. Young was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1937, and the Cy Young Award, created in 1956, honors the best pitchers in the game.
