Frances Hodgson Burnett
Born November 24, 1849
English-born American author best remembered for the classic children's books The Secret Garden and Little Lord Fauntleroy.
Frances Hodgson Burnett was a writer born in Manchester, England. In 1865 her family moved to the United States and settled near Knoxville, Tennessee. She published her first story in Godey's Lady's Book in 1868 and soon became a regular contributor to popular magazines. Her novel That Lass o' Lowrie's appeared in 1877. In 1886 she published Little Lord Fauntleroy, which was first serialized in St. Nicholas magazine; her son Vivian inspired the title character. Her story Sara Crewe was later turned into the play The Little Princess. Her best-known book today, The Secret Garden, came out in 1909, the same year she built a home in Plandome on Long Island, New York. She also wrote plays for the stage.

Dale Carnegie
Born November 24, 1888
American writer and teacher of self-improvement whose book How to Win Friends and Influence People became a lasting bestseller.
Dale Carnegie was an American author and lecturer from Maryville, Missouri, whose family name was originally spelled Carnagey. After studying to become a teacher, he worked as a traveling salesman and briefly tried acting in New York City. In 1912 he began teaching evening public speaking classes at a YMCA in Harlem, sharing the profits with the organization. The courses grew so popular that he set up his own Dale Carnegie Institute to run them across the country. His 1936 book How to Win Friends and Influence People sold a million copies by 1939 and nearly five million during his lifetime. He also wrote Lincoln the Unknown and How to Stop Worrying and Start Living. Investor Warren Buffett credited his course with changing his life.

Oscar Robertson
Born November 24, 1938
American Hall of Fame basketball player, nicknamed "the Big O," who averaged a triple-double for an entire NBA season.
Oscar Robertson is an American basketball legend known as "the Big O," born in Charlotte, Tennessee. He led Crispus Attucks High School in Indianapolis to two state titles and then starred at the University of Cincinnati, where he was the first African American player on the team and set 14 NCAA records. In 1960 he won an Olympic gold medal in Rome and was chosen first overall in the NBA draft. Playing for the Cincinnati Royals, he was named Rookie of the Year, and in the 1961-62 season he averaged 30.8 points, 12.5 rebounds, and 11.4 assists per game. He was the league MVP for 1963-64, won an NBA title with the Milwaukee Bucks in 1971, and entered the Hall of Fame in 1979.
