Wilt Chamberlain
Born August 21, 1936
American basketball star who scored 100 points in a single NBA game and won two NBA championships.
Wilt Chamberlain was born in Philadelphia and played college basketball at the University of Kansas, helping the Jayhawks reach the 1957 NCAA final. He spent a season with the Harlem Globetrotters before joining the NBA's Philadelphia Warriors in 1959. Standing 7 feet 1 inch, he dominated the game. On March 2, 1962, he scored 100 points against the New York Knicks, and that season he averaged 50.4 points per game. He later played for the Philadelphia 76ers and Los Angeles Lakers, winning titles in 1967 and 1972. He became the first player to pass 30,000 career points, famously never fouled out of a game, and entered the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame in 1978.

Count Basie
Born August 21, 1904
American jazz pianist and bandleader whose Count Basie Orchestra defined big-band swing for nearly 50 years.
William James Basie was born in Red Bank, New Jersey, and showed a gift for piano at an early age. In New York he learned from stride pianists such as Fats Waller, and in the late 1920s he settled in Kansas City, playing with Walter Page's Blue Devils and later Bennie Moten's band. He then formed his own group, and radio broadcasts from Kansas City's Reno Club made it nationally known; a radio announcer gave him the name "Count." His orchestra became famous for swinging tunes like "One O'Clock Jump" and "April in Paris," and it worked with singers including Frank Sinatra and Ella Fitzgerald. Basie won nine Grammy Awards.

Sergey Brin
Born August 21, 1973
Russian-born American computer scientist and entrepreneur who cofounded Google with Larry Page.
Sergey Brin was born in Moscow, and his family moved to the United States in 1979, when he was six. He studied mathematics and computer science at the University of Maryland and then began graduate work in computer science at Stanford University. There he met Larry Page, and the two built a search engine that ranked web pages according to their popularity. They launched Google in 1998, naming it after "googol," the number 1 followed by 100 zeros. Brin served as Google's president of technology, and the company went public in 2004. When Google reorganized under the parent company Alphabet in 2015, he became Alphabet's president, a role he held until 2019.
