Ray Bradbury
Born August 22, 1920
American author of imaginative science fiction and fantasy, best known for Fahrenheit 451 and The Martian Chronicles.
Ray Bradbury was an American writer from Waukegan, Illinois, whose stories mixed poetic language, memories of childhood, and warnings about technology. He sold his first professional story in 1941 and was writing full time by 1943. His 1950 book The Martian Chronicles imagined people settling on Mars, and his 1953 novel Fahrenheit 451 pictured a future America where independent thinking is forbidden. He also wrote The Illustrated Man, Dandelion Wine, and Something Wicked This Way Comes. Bradbury wrote the screenplay for the 1956 film Moby Dick and later hosted The Ray Bradbury Theater on HBO. In 2007 the Pulitzer board honored his long and influential career with a special citation.

Claude Debussy
Born August 22, 1862
French composer regarded as the founder of musical Impressionism, known for Clair de lune and La Mer.
Claude Debussy was a French composer born in Saint-Germain-en-Laye, near Paris. His parents ran a china shop, and a piano teacher spotted his gift when he was about ten, leading him to the Paris Conservatory. In 1884 he won the top Prix de Rome for his piece L'enfant prodigue. Debussy broke away from traditional scales and harmonies, and hearing a Javanese gamelan at the 1889 Paris World Exposition shaped his sound. He is often called the founder of musical Impressionism. His best-known works include Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun, the opera Pelleas et Melisande, the orchestral piece La Mer, and the gentle piano favorite Clair de lune.
