What happened in the 1930s?
In the 1930s (1930–1939), the Manchurian Incident escalated into full-scale war between Japan and China, and Japan, after announcing its withdrawal from the League of Nations, grew isolated internationally. In Germany, Hitler was appointed chancellor and annexed Austria, and World War II began in 1939.
