Russian composer of Swan Lake, The Nutcracker, and the 1812 Overture, among the most popular in classical music.
Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky was a Russian composer whose melodies are among the best known in classical music. Born in Votkinsk, he began piano lessons at age six, but he first studied law and worked for the Ministry of Justice. At 23 he turned seriously to music. He wrote the ballets Swan Lake, The Sleeping Beauty, and The Nutcracker, along with the operas Eugene Onegin and The Queen of Spades. His other famous works include the Piano Concerto No. 1, the Romeo and Juliet overture, the 1812 Overture, and the Pathetique Symphony. He was also in demand as a conductor, and in 1891 he traveled to the United States to conduct at the opening of Carnegie Hall.

Gary Cooper

American film star who won Best Actor Oscars for Sergeant York and High Noon.
Gary Cooper was an American movie star known for playing quiet, brave, and steady heroes. Born Frank James Cooper in Helena, Montana, he was the son of a state supreme court justice and attended Grinnell College in Iowa. He went to Hollywood in 1924, where he found work as a cowboy extra and stunt rider before an agent gave him a new first name. His breakout came with The Winning of Barbara Worth in 1926. Cooper went on to star in The Virginian, Mr. Deeds Goes to Town, Beau Geste, The Pride of the Yankees, and For Whom the Bell Tolls. He won Academy Awards for Best Actor for Sergeant York and High Noon, and received an honorary Oscar in 1961.

Johnny Unitas
Born May 7, 1933
Hall of Fame quarterback who led the Baltimore Colts and set a 47-game touchdown pass streak.
Johnny Unitas was an American football quarterback nicknamed "Johnny U." Born in Pittsburgh, he played college football at the University of Louisville. The Pittsburgh Steelers drafted him in 1955 but released him, so he played for a local semipro team for six dollars a game. He joined the Baltimore Colts in 1956 and stayed through 1972, finishing his career with the San Diego Chargers. Unitas led Baltimore to an overtime win over the New York Giants in the 1958 NFL title game and later won a Super Bowl. He threw touchdown passes in 47 straight games, earned three MVP awards and ten Pro Bowl selections, and entered the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1979.
