Michael Jackson was an American singer, songwriter, and dancer who became known around the world as the "King of Pop." Born in Gary, Indiana, he first rose to fame as the youngest member of the Jackson 5, a Motown group he formed with four of his brothers. His solo albums Off the Wall (1979), Thriller (1982), Bad (1987), and Dangerous (1991) produced a long run of hits, and Thriller was an enormous commercial success. His inventive music videos helped shape the early years of MTV, and he made the moonwalk dance famous. He won multiple Grammy Awards and entered the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice, with the Jackson 5 in 1997 and as a solo artist in 2001.

Swedish actress and three-time Oscar winner remembered for playing Ilsa opposite Humphrey Bogart in Casablanca.
Ingrid Bergman was a Swedish actress who became one of Hollywood's leading stars. Born in Stockholm, she trained at the Royal Dramatic Theater School and began acting in Swedish films. Her role in the Swedish movie Intermezzo (1936) caught the eye of producer David O. Selznick, who brought her to America for an English-language remake in 1939. She is best remembered as Ilsa Lund in Casablanca (1942), starring with Humphrey Bogart. She also appeared in Spellbound and Notorious. Bergman won three Academy Awards, for Gaslight, Anastasia, and Murder on the Orient Express. Later she starred in Ingmar Bergman's Autumn Sonata (1978) and won an Emmy for playing Israeli leader Golda Meir on television.

John McCain
Born August 29, 1936
U.S. senator from Arizona, Vietnam War navy pilot, and the Republican presidential nominee in 2008.
John McCain was an American politician and military officer who represented Arizona in Congress for more than three decades. He was born in the Panama Canal Zone and graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1958. He served as a navy pilot during the Vietnam War, receiving honors including the Legion of Merit. A Republican, he served in the House of Representatives from 1983 to 1987 and then in the Senate starting in 1987, where he chaired the Armed Services Committee. He co-wrote the McCain-Feingold campaign finance law with Senator Russell Feingold. Often called a "maverick" for breaking with his party, he ran for president in 2000 and was the Republican nominee in 2008.
