Famous people born on November 4
Will Rogers
Born November 4, 1879
American humorist, actor, and columnist whose folksy wit about politics and everyday life made him a national favorite.
Will Rogers was an American entertainer who grew up on a ranch in Indian Territory, in what is now Oklahoma, and was part Cherokee. As a teenager he joined traveling Wild West shows, and in 1905 he began a vaudeville act built on rope tricks and quick, funny remarks. He went on to star in the Ziegfeld Follies on Broadway and appeared in dozens of films, including State Fair and Judge Priest. Rogers also wrote a widely syndicated newspaper column, published books, and spoke often on the radio. His gentle jokes about Congress and current events earned him a huge following, and he is remembered for the line "I never met a man I didn't like."

Walter Cronkite
Born November 4, 1916
American broadcast journalist who anchored the CBS Evening News for nearly two decades and became known as America's most trusted newsman.
Walter Cronkite was an American journalist from St. Joseph, Missouri, who studied at the University of Texas before becoming a full-time reporter. During World War II he worked as a correspondent for United Press, reporting on events such as D-Day. He joined CBS News in 1950 and in 1962 became anchor of the CBS Evening News, which soon grew into television's first half-hour nightly newscast. Over nearly twenty years he guided viewers through the Apollo 11 moon landing, the Vietnam War, and Watergate. A 1972 poll called him the most trusted man in America. He ended each broadcast with "And that's the way it is," and received the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 1981.

He first drew attention as the laid-back Wooderson in Dazed and Confused (1993), then starred in A Time to Kill, Contact, and Amistad.
